Dear Eliot Families,
It has been a pleasure to serve as the principal of Eliot school this year. I continue to be proud to be a part of this community as I watch students strive to be their best selves.
In February, Eliot school chose to focus on kindness. Students met in the early fall to read the book Be Kind by Pat Zietlow Miller, to set the tone for the year. With the help of the PTC and parent community, Eliot school took part in their first kindness week. Students had the chance to show kindness to themselves, their peers, their teachers and the community. Students wore name tags all week with a tidbit of information about them to start a conversation. It was wonderful to see students engage with their peers and staff in a meaningful and personal way.
At the start of the week, we met as a group and I had the opportunity to once again discuss our shared focus on kindness. It is our hope that the week’s activities had lasting effects and will create a small change that will stay with them for years to come.
Here is my favorite quote:
“Maybe I can only do small things. But, my small things might join small things other people do. And together, they could grow into something big. “
To the fifth graders: I hope you enjoyed your time at Eliot school and will remember the friendships you have made while here. We hope you have learned to always try your best, even when obstacles get in your way. Above all, we hope you have gained confidence in yourself as a person and your ability to share your talents with the world. Continue to be kind, curious and always try to be your best selves. Your teachers and parents are so proud of you and excited about the next phase of your life. Take care!
